About Us

The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) is the one of the oldest and largest non-profit grass-root umbrella organization.  Established in 1970, the FIA represents the growing Indian diaspora in the Northeast USA.  Through its over five decades of deep-rooted grass-root community engaging and enhancing initiatives, FIA has grown in tandem with the Indian diaspora while continuing to promote, safeguard and nurture the values and culture that are vital to the Indian American community.

FIA’s joyous journey since 1970 has been quite eventful. With each passing year, the ever-growing Indian-American community kept adding one after the other iconic events to its kitty. Like collecting well-curated beautiful flowers for a bouquet. And today, FIA’s annual event calendar has become a massive bouquet, dotted with sought-after events and activities spread throughout the year. Dance Pe Chance, Empire State Building Lighting, Indian Flag Hoisting at Times Square and Annual Reception Gala are to name a few.

FIA has come a long way during its over 5-decade long captivating journey, while leaving a definitie time-stamp on the time scale. The gallery is like a time-travel window into the sneak peak of the extraordinary journey FIA accomplished so far. Don’t believe it. Okay, take a ride to see Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav 2022, Boston Marathon 2021, Flag Hoisting at Times Square 2020, International Women’s Day 2019 and Bihar Diwas 2018, among others.

(1982-2022)

From famous music director Zubin Mehta (1982) to Pan-India Super Star Allu Arjun (2022), FIA’s Annual Day Parade has presented the galaxy of Bollywood celebrities to the world. With them, they not just bring up the charged-up emotional connection to the global-Indian diaspora but also showcase India’s unity among the diversity emanating from varied Socio-Cultural-Economic setups. Since the time of Zubin Mehta (1982), the stature of the India Day Parade has grown so much that it has become one of the iconic events the Indian-American community presents to the world. The list can be long, however, Sunil Dutt, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Amitabh Bachchan, AR Rahman, Anil Kapoor and Kamal Haasan – to name a few. However, in the years 2020 and 2021 India Day Parade could not be organized owing to COVID-19 pandemic.
