The Consulate General of India in New York celebrated the 75th Republic Day on Thursday, January 26th, 2024. The reception was hosted by Consul General Binaya Srikanta Pradhan and was attended by prominent members of the diaspora, elected officials, members of the diplomatic corps, friends from the media, and people from different walks of life.

The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) was well-represented by President Dr Avinash Gupta, past presidents & trustees Dr Sudhir Parikh, & Mr Alok Kumar, and treasurer Mr Sanjeev Singh. Also present were Dr Geeta Gupta, Deputy Consul General Dr Varun Jeph, Consul General Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, Gaurav Shah, and Grammy award winner Falu Shah.

The event was attended by Congressman Mike Lawler and Edison Mayor Sam Joshi, who joined in the celebration of the day with the Indian community. The occasion was marked by a mesmerizing live performance by Ms. Maheshwari Jagabattul.

Guests were treated to a diverse array of regional cuisines from various parts of India The program included a video showcasing the Consulate’s activities across the ten states in the northeast U.S. The event also saw vibrant cultural performances from young but very talented artist, Ms. Maheshwari Jagabattula, and a captivating performance from Grammy award winner, Ms. Falu Shah.

The celebration embodied the spirit of unity, diversity, and shared heritage, marking a memorable Republic Day for all in attendance. Video messages conveying congratulations on the 75th Republic Day were played by notable figures, including New York State Governor Ms. Kathy Hochul, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, etc. The event was a testament to the strong bonds between India and the United States, further cementing the relationship between the two nations.
